Every time I see "salt" on a watercolour I want to scream!!!
Please use it sparingly...its fun to do, but its just such an obvious and overused technique.
Would'nt want to comment on the coffee...assume you're using acid free paper.
I suppose we could do a painting called "From The Pantry"
Blueberry sky...Raspberry barn...Coffee and Tea field....
Sounds like a Seinfeld topic,
Take care

never used salt--maybe it's because I have hi blood presure and am on a salt free diet!

there is an excellent article on the judicious use of salt to add for textural use in the Winter 2001 issue of Watercolor Magic.
Article by Judy Morris. I have not tried it myself but it is an interesting read and pics.

I can't say I have ever used salt myself but I have seen some beautiful pictures with this technique used in them....I think, like most techniques...There is a time, place and a subject for it!

I also think it's fun to play around with new "tools"....Let's face it, you only have to look at the website mentioned here not so long ago to see what coffee can create in the right hands....He even created a way of maintaining the art afterwards!

I used salt for the first time the other day. It was an interesting effect, but I can certainly see how it could be over done.
