Hi Everyone!

I actually finished this one a while ago but have been having a lot of trouble using the image uploader from my Mac. I finally drug out the old PC and the uploader seems to work from here.

This is "Canyon Song" a 24"x24" oil on wood panel, another of my hybrid paintings. Canyon Wren with various Ancient Pueblo pictographs from the American Southwest. The human figure is known as a Kokopelli, the legendary fluteplayer of Native American stories. Here he is accompanied by what's likely a small dog. The sheep in the upper right are desert bighorns.

Thanks for looking, and C&C always welcome!

Nancy

Gorgeous work! Love these paintings of yours. The lighting on that little wren is amazing. I'm especially attracted to the line of light along the beak.

Love it! I saw a leopard painting including stoneaged ruins I'd like to try... this piece speaks to me of that similar nature, really cool!

Thanks Shalese! I love to paint backlit birds...the translucency of their feathers and beaks is really appealing to me.

Thanks Paige - In these pieces I think I channel my first career (geologist). I love rock :)

Thank you Cathy!!

Jason - thank you! It's been an eye-opener for me to have these pieces "accepted" as much as they have been. They were a total experiment and I wasn't sure if they were going to work.

Thanks Karen! I'm a strong believer in integrating our interests into our art. Give your idea a try but be open to pulling in other things that interest you. For me (obviously) it's archaeology, ancient art, warm colors, and animals. For you it might be (and likely is) a different combination of things. It took me 6-8 months of playing around with the idea before I hit upon a good mix of subject, materials, and technique for me. Have fun with it :)

Thanks Pat!

Kathrin - I'm going to use my printmaker near Denver, CO. I'm going to wait and see how my latest work turns out (one of the Euro ones) before I send a batch of paintings off to be scanned. It's more cost effective for me to have 2-3 painting scanned for prints rather than just one. I'll definitely have this one printed, as well as "Dreams of Flight." Stay tuned :-)

Thank you Mishi!
