Whoopee !!!!!!!!!

I know some of you are, as I type, still going strong on Tuesdays Wash........... but its almost 2.00am here on St Georges Day and I had to start the wash to tell you that my stylus and wacom pad are back on the RHS of my PC and I am back to using ( cautiously and not for too long:D) BOTH HANDS

Now I must catch up on Lapel badges and Challenge and threads and Grass cutting and.... and... and......
Will never catch up on commiserations, get well soons, congratulations, Glad you had good hols, Smashing photos, etc etc etc so please take as read as I have been reading all your news :D The wash was a must even with 2 fingers on Left hand :)

My London friends stayed over Easter........ and 40 plus years slipped away and we seem to have renewed very strong friendship of way back........ it was SOOO good to see them. everyone seems to take to this place and just RELAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX :D

My 'House warming gift' from them was inspired........ a season ticket to the local and very impressive garden at Hergest Croft. I bought one for visitors too............ so if youre ever this way :D......we walked around for a couple of hours and never managed to find the Rhododendron valley .......... but hope theyll be in full bloom when Helen visits in May.

Laughing at the fact Doug will meet Madmum for second time today and I still havent while living 15 miles away :D:D

Have a good day............. and watch where you put your hands :D:D:D

Jaytee:

I couldn't resist. It is only 9:20 pm here in Ontario but saw the wash was started so thought I would say hello.

Iam so    :) that your hand is improving BUt take it slow and easy ; no relapses.

Good to hear that you had good times with friends visiting. It is amazing to me as well how the times and distance can slip away and it seems like yesterday that we we had a visit. Sign of good friends:)

It rained today here and the grass has turned greener and the daffodils are ready to open.

I saw a little rabbit today under the bird feeder ( so cute) and then later saw the little cheeky b******r contentedly eating the crocus blossoms. At this point, I headed outside and sent him on his way with arms flapping. Hope he finds greener pastures.

Well I better wrap up my evening here at WC. , take the dogs out for last call and put the turkey soup (lefotover from EAster) in the fridge.

Take care and see the rest of you washers in the morning.

hah, only 8:40 here in Texas. i couldn't resist either. i have never made it this early to the wash. so while you Brits sit around and chat all morning, i'm going to go to bed.

Oh hey, speaking of Brits, i was wondering, or rather my brother was wondering, what hour the sun rises and set in the spring in England. not sure why, but i thought i might as well ask.

see you guys later,

It's 12:15 am here and I feel like I'm going to be up a while, so I figured I'd get in on the wash fairly early. So, good morning to everyone who is now into Wednesday, and good night to those who are still in Tuesday. Pampe, it is confusing, isn't it? LOL

I think i'm coming out of my slump or as Nandie calls it "creative pause." DH took a picture of baby robins in their nest and I feel the urge to paint them, so I've got the drawing done and I've been peeking out the window at them--they are about to leave the nest, I think. If it turns out, I'll post it.

Happy painting!

It's still Tuesday here, 10:15pm.

I love the concept "creative pause." So much more positive than "slump." Or as I've usually called it "block." I'm going to calligraph that to a sign on my mirror---Creative Pause

Thanks. :D

Good Morning all, I had a great trip to France, went to a place called Honfleur a very pretty place much frequented by the painting fraternity, One chap was sat with easel etc painting a view that was behind him ! pretty impressive trick. (he had a copy of a copy stuck on his easel in front of him). here is yours truely painting pleine aire on good Friday, didn't yet finish the picture . also went to the Somme area of France paid my respects on the battle fields, then popped into Ostend in Belgium where it was bitterly cold and people were on the beach and in the water swimming!!!

have a good day all

Morning all!

Hi Andy - great set up you've got there but I wouldn't want to carry it very far:D There's nothing like painting in the fresh air is there?

Spent a couple of hours painting yesterday afternoon and ended up with a bad back again, so I'm going to leave off for a while - maybe do some sketching from my chair overlooking the garden.

I was amazed to see how many people had already contributed to the wash by 8.45 am!

Glad to see you are on the mend, Jaytee - I looke on multimap.com and the aerial photograph to see whether I could pick out your house and garden by the church - wasn't sure. I rented a cottage in Ludlow a couple of years ago and got as far as Clun - could easily have passed through Kington. If I ever get down that way again I'll look you up.

Have a creative day everyone!

I had trouble finding it myself but if you overlay map onto aerial photo at 1.5000, and look almost due east of church, and drop down just below the final H in churcH road........ thats me.............the sunlit field to the west of me is my neighbours back garden and the white cluster of houses just to the east my other neighbours.... you can see how Im nestling in all those tall trees ! Youd be very welcome any time.....................

Yes its great seeing all this late night early morning activity on the wash isn't it :) Wonder why none of our antipodean members ever start it....... theyre ahead of us arent they?

Sorry to hear about your back again Doug.............. at least Pamps is safe ....... no wonder wife not worried ;)

Pamps....... you're begining to sound just like Fookie :D thought it was her till I checked the chicken hat......... I call it that. 'cos when my specs slipped down my nose.... tend not to see detail and your tinyhead reminds me of chicken

Just had an email from petplanet called April offers that starts...... 'Summer is here ....................

Good Morning...first time for me to jion the daily wash. Woke up at 3:00 am and thought I would say good morning! Surprised to see so many "good mornings" already. It's still dark here and I will go back to bed and get some more shut eye. Spring has arrived, it is warm, sunny, and I have been out in the garden (yesterday) starting the cleanup, plan to do more today.

Hi again...

Just painted a small painting.. approx 9.5" x 12" to list on eBay... trying my luck again. It's the same image that I posted here quite a while ago as a WIP... I'll post it in the forum for everyone to see.

Jaytee... glad your hand is getting better...

Andy... wow... en plein aire... looks like you have a grand time!

Have you guys ever received e-mails from someone who claimed he's a so and so in Nigeria/ Zimbabwe and has a fortune of a deceased multi-millionaire tucked somewhere in an off-shore bank and wanted your help to open a local bank account so that he can transfer the money to you and then you get to keep a certain percentage of that money? I got it all the time... at least once a month... I always ignore and delete them... just a pain:mad:

Lara, welcome to the Wash and to the watercolor forum!

Yorky, please take care of your back. You are not going to be able to fly over and see that grandbaby OR Pampe if you don't heal.

Why, Andy, you have a very professional plein aire set up there! Looking forward to your photos and paintings.

AriadneArts, you're welcome!

Jaytee, it's so nice to have you back on The Wash. I'm glad your hand has healed.:)

Well, that's twice on the Wash, and it is only 6:20 am here!

P.S. Marvin, we were cross-posting! Ain't spam grand?

Holy Cow... The wash is certainly on the move this morning... Glad to see we've got some folks on the mend!!!

Light frost this morning here in the banana belt of Ontario... We didn't get the cold and snow showers yesterday, so that's a plus.

Jaytee... so glad you hands are back in gear!

Welcome Clara!

Andy... love you pic.

Doug... well what can I say... Take care...

Lyn, aren't babies just so wonderful! How lucky to have robins outside your window!!! Look forward to your painting!

Bob, quit stressing... Don't you know by now that it's counterproductive!!! Good luck.

Happy Wednesday to everyone else... There are so many here this morning....

Well... I was just greeted by my youngest (a teenager)... "Good Morning Honey" I said... "You look very nice!" He says "WHY didn't you get me UP!!!" (you know the tone...) I guess I have to assume that his alarm clock is broke... I am still his lackey... He told me especially to wake him and I forgot (one of my all-time favourites)... So, it seems that "I" have now spoiled his day... He won't have time for breakfast; WHAT is he going to have in his lunch???; he DOES have an assignment to finish... AHA, the crux of the matter... Little snip didn't do his homework!!!

Everyone have a fun, fun, silly fun day!!!

Good Morning everyone!!! Wow, was 7:30 a.m. when I first looked in and already 17 posts.

I actually have plans for today, well, this evening, starting back into life drawing. Haven't done it for quite a while so am actually a bit scared. Our art store offers these and because they needed someone to unlock and lock the doors, turn lights on and off and make coffee they offered me this job and I get to participate free of charge. This is just a group of people and a model hired by the art store, no teacher, goes from 7 to 10 p.m.

Jaytee, sooooo glad your hand is getting better!!!!

Doug - I feel for you:crying: :crying:

Andy- looking good!!!! I am not much good at plein air but looking forward to it anyway. Your visit to Ostend reminded me of the many trips I made there on the ferry going from London to Austria via train. Does that ferry still go or is the tunnel taking all the traffic now?

Marvin - good for you!!!

Wishing every one good health, good test results, and a wonderful day!!!

Cold and miserable outside today with a smidge of snow overnight. The weather forecasters say it wont last long.

I am off to look at the threads and will pop back in later. wow that will be 3 times in one. day

Marvin, depending on what version of Outlook Express you are using you can select "Tools/Message Rules/Mail" and set up a rule to delete these spam emails automatically, preferrably from the server. Takes a little learning, but is quite easy.

I have around 20 rules and typically get around 15 automatically deleted messagse every time I log on. New ones keep cropping up, but I just make a new rule or add another rude word etc into the list which are already deleted in an existing rule.

Its obvious they can see you are an up and coming professional artist and are "after your money" :D

Cheers!

Good morning all! I overslept. I was up past midnight working on that essay. I finally took the only avenue I had left that would allow me to stop obsessing about it ... I emailed it to the professor. Now, THAT'S what I call finished!! :D

Char - I know stressing is unproductive, but if I didn't stress out over things how would anyone know it was me??

Andy, your plein aire setup looks great. That's something I have yet to do, plein aire. Someday, someday ....

Doug, take care of your back. I know how it can be. My lower back gives me problems and it is just amazing how completely back pain can knock you out of commission.

Take care all and have a wonderful day!

Its no use saying that now, Marvin - they have already got your number. LOL

Its safer to take time to filter out these spams, some can contain malicious viruses which take effect if you click on them by accident.

I don't have a preview panel, so I dont see most of them.

Spam is a hateful, wasteful use of bandwidth! Some of the messages are VERY inappropriate!!! I have set up message blocks. I pay additional $$ to my ISP for anti-spamming... All to no avail! Like JoAnn said, they keep changing their names!!! We're at the point where we're going to change our email address to stop it... Getting 25-30 spams a day!!! We don't dare leave our email for any longer than a few days because it bogs down our email server... *&^%$!!!

Greeting from sunny Florida where it's already summer!:D

My new class started last night and I have added to the class 3 students who are completely new to watercolor. We painted a Key West (Florida) style rooster using a limited palette of 5 harmonious colors plus the complement of the middle color, plus mud from those 2 colors for use on the feet. Each student had fun choosing his/her own set of 5 colors and each one was very different from all the rest. What fun!;)

One student has laminated some photocopies of her work for place mats and sold quite a few and has requests for more. I believe she will do the same with her rooster(s).

I'm working on a series (20+) of paintings of children's stuffed animals. So far I have 4 finished with the rest in some way started. They make me happy. Will post when they are ready.

I was really happy to see the post of the web address for the lessons. Very worthwhile checking out. Thanks for posting that one!

Goo morning everyone! Another 6 am morning and the the weather is looking good!

I work for a company that does rabid anti spam blocking. My accounts through them have never seen spam AND they have made sure that all my WC! email come through. :) My accounts through our ISP however.... ugh!

Painting will be done today as I am going to put the girls outside to play while the weather is nice and that will give me some quiet minutes. :D

No news on my mum yet, but she sounds better than yesterday. her appointment with the neurologist is tomorrow afternoon, so we'll know more then.

I am booking a short August holiday for us today. We are going to visit the Royal Tyrell dinosaur museum about 1 1/2 hours away from us. The kids are excited and want to go plein aire painting (the scenery is amazing!). They each have Cotman field kits, so I had better stock up on paper. :D

my SPAM got so bad one time (not content really, just amount) that i switched accounts. then it takes them awhile to recognise you, especially if you hardly ever give out that address online. i was getting like 50 a day or something rediculouse like that. it was a little annoying to have to switch, but that was like two or three years ago and i am only just now starting to get SPAM again.

Good morning/day/evening everyone!

Way too many things going on here to make comments on each person's happenings, but know that I enjoy reading about them and am passing along good thoughts to everyone.

Had a good art class last night. We have so much fun in that class. Didn't get very far painting, but was able to get some critique on some paintings / sketches I am working on at home. Hopefully I can get to them in the next several days. One of them is that Schooner Eleanor painting which is still coming along slow but sure.

Nice and sunny in Chicagoland today. Going up to 60 degrees! Yipee! I am going appliance shopping for the office today. We need a new refrigerator and microwave - oh what fun. But it beats staying inside.

Well, I've been incapable of doing any art in the last few weeks. Our mattress decided to give out and I can't seem to manage to do anything except complain about my aching back while trying to stay awake.

I just have to say that mattress salesmen are the sleaziest, most dishonest people on the planet! At least the ones around here are. I think my hubby and I have finally found a mattress that we can both live with and it will only cost a SMALL fortune.

I've never been so appalled at an industry. They expect you to spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on a product that may or may not last 10 years. They change names so you can NOT comparison shop, can not really return. The salesmen deliberately hide information so you don't know what you are buying and manufacturers either don't honor warranties or make them so ridiculous that nothing is covered in the warranty. If ever an industry needed to be regulated, it's this one!

Sorry for the rant. I'm grumpy and sick of dealing with liars. Hopefully, I'll come home tonight with a good mattress and get a decent night of sleep. I had to move out of the bed a few days ago and the couch/futon just isn't cutting it. :(

Tripod does not allow image hosting. I started a Tripod account 2 years ago and they didn't allow links to point to images.

Marvin, you can get a WetCanvas hosted account for under $5 per month. If you do a search in the Internet and Business forums, you'll also find a couple other low cost options. In general, you can find hosting to fullfill any of your needs for under $10 per month.

Unfortunately, there comes a time when paying a webhost is necessary if you want to sell or convey a professional image.

Sorry, Ruth I think it was my fault - on Tuesday I said "I'll be meeting Ruth and Sharon tomorrow" Should have said Thursday! I was confused by the bank holiday.

Meeting Sharron under the clock at Wigan Pier around 1.30pm Thursday 24th (now tomorrow)

I am swamped today with all my last minute running around. I leave for Arizona bright and early tomorrow (3:30 am wake up call   ) and won't be back until May 6. I am getting excited with anticipation of all the sights I will be seeing....Grand Canyon, Sedona, New Mexico, and much more. Plus I will be meeting up for coffee at some point with both Al and Fookie....I am really excited about that!!!!

Have a safe and wonderful trip, Em. Good time of year to visit AZ. Not too hot yet and the desert should be blooming about now. I hope you'll take lots of pix and post them in the photo forum. :D

Is there anything our Pamps cannot do? So nice we have her...she could be in pastels full-time ya' know. 1-2-3: YEAH, PAMPS...hear that in Portland? Come home safe and sound in mind and spirit.

Looking forward to coffee with Em, Al and Em's sister, too. Al, wear Aussie hat.

Marvin, good-o on trying eBay again. I think WC! hosting sounds best way to go [continuing plug for WC!]; I am gathering all this info for day I take the plunge. Of course long-term memory will not have plugged in yet so I will need to ask all this stuff again. I sent check for Singapore Road Showhouses today so start wrapping that baby up for trip to US of A.

I used to get tons of spam so about 2 years ago I switch from AOL to Earthlink and NO SPAM. I don't do anything--Earthlink does it all. UNTIL I signed up for eBay account, within days I get to sex Spamers. I do not report this to Earthlink, but I have not gotten anymore. Ebay definitely target for spammers to pick up addys--documented.

Jaytee, fookie and pamps are soul sisters, of course we sound the same you old silly. I think all that antibiotics go to your brain instead of your hand.

I had a long day with volunteer job. Court time all morning and p/u new case in afternoon, then animal to doggie park. Now I'm cruising WC! and he playing near me. Suddenly I hear big *GULP* and I look... Critter has pulled the zipper closure out of doggie bed that Easter bunny brought him and SWALLOWED IT. Dam bed cost Easter bunny a couple pennies, too. Sigh, I need a kitty. J/K, don't jump ol' Auntie for critter cruelty.

I work on 2 paintings tonight. Looking forward to my brushes and paint. Cheers....

I should wait 1/2 hour and start the daily wash for tomorrow, or maybe someone already did.

Just wanted to wish Pam and em a great trip, didn';t realize you guys were leaving so early. Hope you both have a great time!!!
