Done really as an exercise in wet into wet foreground - that bit worked OK.

size is 9"x11" or so - Langton paper, Daler-Rowney Artists paints.

Hi Ceiliog
I really like this. What I really like is the way you painted the fence and the wet on wet technique you used on the grass. I love the theme also.
I was wondering if your painting this light or is it because of scanning?
I hope you don't mind but I put it on my computer and did some adjustments. Is this closer to your actual painting?

Anyways, Great Job on your painting,
Carolyn

love the subject matter emensly, and you rendered it so well. i think that the background hills are a little boring, but then they don't distract from the "main" part :D

I love the sundrenched look of this. And I really like the value adjustments hinted at by Carolyn.

.....Ceil this is a wonderful painting!! Carolyn's adjustments/darkening is a great lesson on what those darks can do for a painting...makes em "pop"

...by the way Carolyn, how do you get someone else's painting into a software program to make those adjustments

Annetta to do this, I right click on the photo and save it as a jpg. Then I opened it adobe photoshop and made adjustments then uploaded here after saving again. I use Adobe photoshop, but you could use other programs to do this also.

All I can say is excellent, this painting gives an idea of the solitude that sometimes go with a lonely croft--------well done--------alan

I like the original version. The soft colors give it a lovely misty atmosphere. Very nice work!

Hi Ceiliog... This is a really lovely composition. I especially like the tufted grass, rocks and shadows along the path... They make the landscape very interesting. And they lead me right to the cottage!! Beautiful.

Beautiful scene. Especially like the way you painted the path - soft and loosish but realistic - and the wonderful light. Very well done.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to look and comment - and thanks for the darkened/strengthened version - the original is somewhere between the 2. My camera seems to have washed it out quite a bit in places, esp the foreground.

Cheers
