Oh so nice! I never imaged there could be so much color variation in shells. I also like the different shapes and textures paired together. Good job on the shadows too.

This is very nice--I like the colors very much.:)

Great colors and textures Bethany  It may just be my monitor or the scan, or neither, but just curious if the background was left alone or are the shells laying on sand?

04-22-2003, 05:15 PM
karenboss, CharM, cinnamon girl, artmom, Annetta, thanks for commenting!! no, the shells are not resting on sand. i thought about it, but could not come up with a way to do it that i was sure i would like, so i left well enough alone. as for the quality of the scan, it is a little less harsh in colors, somewhat cooler.

this is gorgeous babybrush. Boy do I have a long way to go to get to this. I love that colors and how they just seem to pop up off the paper.

Hi B.......... colors/shapes/shading/shadows came out really good........... !!!!
It's your picture and forgive me plz for messing........but I'm just naturally a messer.........lol.......

I really think it looks kewl this way with this bit of crop........

04-22-2003, 05:31 PM
interesting al. i have yet to really figure out how close i am going to crop it, but it would be hard for me to crop that close. i don't mind digital messing, so no need to apologise :D

04-22-2003, 05:57 PM
It looks amazing. Colors are very vivid. Your techniques is perfect. I love al's idea, not cropping but rotating it vertical.

04-22-2003, 06:02 PM
wonderful, Bethany...really nice!!!

great colors

I don't like the rotated...feel like they are falling over

04-22-2003, 06:06 PM
This is really nice ... I love the crop Al suggests, it gives the piece additional depth.

04-22-2003, 06:20 PM
Beautiful work! The crop Al suggested does give it more "ooomph!!" Very well done!

Pardon me, but JHC!, how did I get so old?????? Who did this to me???

Bethany, I love these shells and they are perfect for your announcement, be sure to add the credit line to the back of the card.

My favorite is the pink--which I had already told you. I am impressed..such talent and so young--just a little nubile and already on her way.
When do you granduate?

Wonderful shells Bethany!!!! and I agree with fookie, so young and already so good!!

I also think Al's crop gave it umph, but wonder if it was the crop or the frame he put around it. Might be an idea to put this kind of frame around your invitations.

Oh, and congratulations re your graduation!!!!!!

Well Done Bethany: Such beautiful colours and textures on the different shells.

I do like Al's crop version too ( you are probably sick of hearing this) I have different size mattings at home - cheapies- and I place a painting behind one stand back and take a look , leave it for a while and then try again with a different size to get a cropped version and do the same thing. Sometimes this makes up my mind.

oh thanks you guys. you are all so kind.

Fookie, my ceremonie is on May 24th. since i'm homeschooled it is just me and another boy who is also homeschooled. i think am getting excited about the ceremony, but even more so with officially being DONE with highschool.

Gail, ooh ooh, i think i have an extra mat laying around. i might try this.

Thanks you guys

If only those shells have legs I would tell them to move at my place !!! :cat:
I like your perception and technique altho i think colors are little bit too intensive for me but hey it's spring time !

I am looking foward to see more of your paintings.

04-25-2003, 09:13 AM
