View Full Version : BLM #2186 mustang

This is what I've been up to for the last few weeks off and on. I took this picture at the same BLM adoption as the donkey I did before. This guy was a real cutie, 10 month old gelding that came out of Nevada. He didn't find a home that weekend - and I saw him again at another BLM adoption about a month later. I'm hoping he found a home at last, but i'm not sure.

cropped size shown here is 18x28, but I worked on a full sheet
prismacolor pencils
black stonehenge

please excuse the stitching.. it took 8 scans and luckily for me baquitania felt sorry for me and stitched them together very quickly (sometimes it pays to whine? LOL! Thanks Bobby)

calling this one done and signed - unless someone sees something terribly off.

Thanks for looking everyone!

I kind of like this one too - never did one up close and personal like... it was fun!

Hey Cathy, huge yes! But this guy had a face... you know what i mean!;)

Donna I'm thrilled that you think I've captured his spirit and personality. I think this large format added to that.

Thanks line!

echidna - I ordered this paper online - ummm NOT dick blick because they don't carry the black stonehenge, maybe it was ASW?

hey stalks! - ummm this paper was ok, I would use it again but do you find its not as durable as neutral colored stonehenge?

thanks els :)

Wingnut...LOL, What would I do without you? Baaaaaaaaaa...

Thankyou CJ!
Thank you walerian!

Good Grief, that's Gorgeous!

You have caught a wistful quality that is quite arresting (in addition to the masterful drawing).

"Wow!" is about all I can say. My CP still looks like crayon in a coloring book. This is incredible.

WOW! Just incredible! He takes your breath away! He looks so sweet...I hope he found a good home!

I can't express how much this touches me. Knowing that he is waiting for a home and is in line at an auction just brings his expression home.
I worked at a horse auction one summer with a friend years ago and I remember those faces. It was so hard for me,I was way too emotional.Ah, those eyes:)

Beautiful job!

Thanks to all of your for taking the time to comment. I didn't mean to take so long to reply - I'm sorry!

I still don't know if this guy found a home or not that last weekend, but when the local equine paper put out there story on the BLM adoptions this little guy was front and center in the picture they published!! I knew he was photogenic!! :D ;)

Thanks again to all!

Sheesh! About time you finished this, TJ. ;)

It's perfect. What are you working on now?

Hi everyone - wow I thought this thread had died!

Ummmm lets see....

Thanks Caron - this was a really satisfying piece to do. I keep wondering if I call if they can tell me if he found a home. He really was tempting but I have 2 horses and 2 mules right now - plus my artwork and it would not have been fair to him with time so limited!

Hello deefilly! Thanks so much.

Twyla!!! Thanks! That means so much coming from you!!!!

Mi amigo!!! Wes you have forgotten where I'm off to this week? ;) Me thinks not.
I'm spending this week at the Scottsdale Art School... taking a class with Carrie Ballantyne, in pencil and CPs. I took this mustang to class with me. She said "Wow!" Do you show your work professionally? I said "Not yet" and she said "You need to show this - in some large shows!"

do you see me blushing from here?

 :D

So, are you trying to say that it means something when Carrie says it, but when I do, as I have (many times!) it don't mean dooky? ;)  :D

04-30-2003, 12:30 AM

No, mi amigo that is NOT true! Your dooky means alot to me - and I take it to heart each and every time! ;)

It was just weird to hear it from someone I don't know. SEEEEEEE I know you just a bit better  :D

Wes my friend! You are to much! ;) I had a great day in class today, but if I knew this was waiting for me I would have hurried home sooner! Fiesta!
