hi everyone :D
i am happy to say that the Traffic Jam painting is now complete!
i signed my name in bubbles too :p
the last fishy's name is Melvin :)
i used silver leaf for the bubbles too and i am really happy with this painting. i am not worried about the bottom right corner anymore either.

thanks everyone for looking and i appreciate all your help and support !

You are one talented young lady, Sarah!! Nice finish... Your third fish suits his name!!! I love the bubble over his eye... Or is that his eye? LOL (I'm blind as a bat)

Just a HO, Sarah........composition is fine......believe it to be described as 'radiating line'.......

As shown on last picture eye is force to nice area on painting by line work as crudely shown........

Well done and fingers x'd on getting into society.........

hi Al :)
so you are saying this is OK like it is? i am happy with the composition now.
thanks because i really want to sign my name and then PWS :)
thanks Susie! i am really happy with this painting!
thanks CharM :)
the eye is actually the eye and not a bubble. it was made to be large and more transparent.

Very nice composition and really great work on the fish and the background. Super painting. Your ability to render details and capture the character of these fish is fantastic.

Still...It might be just the photo...or for that matter, I might simply be wrong, but I think there is a bit too little value variation in this one. I did a greyscale

Am I the only one who thinks there is too much midtone?

Wonderful, Sarah.

It's with some trepidation that I suggest you darken the background around Melvin's chin - it doesn't stand out very well at the moment on my screen.

Good luck with your application for membership - you certainly deserve to succee.

Hi Sarah,

Your painting is lovely. Is Melvin a baby lionfish? He doesn't have stripes like the other two do.

Agree with Olga about midtones being dominant. Maybe darken the background a little around the perimeter (where you name is and at the top quadrant) and around Melvin's face as Yorky suggested.

We are all pulling for your acceptance into the PWS. You would definitely have our votes, if we could vote, that is.

Sarah, you have gotten excellent suggestions from some of our very best watercolorists; we are all pulling for you. I suggest you consider the advice given you and decide if they/any/a will help you in your journey. You have the original, we are seeing a computer copy.

Meanwhile.....[sigh]...

thanks Lyn. it was a fun painting.
thanks Karen and Rose :D
thanks Sylvia. i want to leave the background alone but i did darken the background around Melvin's face.
Melvin didn;t have any stripes from the photograph. i painted him just as he was in the picture.

auntie fookie, thanks because i do understand what everyone means but i want to keep it as it is, except for the darker area at Melvin's chin. i guess i am happy with the results and that is what counts? if the watercolor society does not accept me, then ok, i did my best:)
thanks Alan and Yorky. i took your suggestion Doug and i like it.
thanks Bethany and Uschi
thanks Olga for all the great advice. i a afraid i might overwork the background though. if i do that, i will ruin the painting but i am happy with it :)
