Hello,
I pictured my daughter in this watercolor.
The layers are quit chaotic, but I like it because of the drawing and a certain likeness.
Any comments are welcome

I love the looseness in this portrayal of your daughter! A nice overall feeling to the piece.

Hallo Beveren,

Nice portrait. It has a Charles Reid feeling ...
(next time use the "uploader" so we can look at the picture when commenting and replying ;) )

Beautiful loose portrait... I really admire those of you who can paint such loose and lovely stuff... because I can't...

Welcome!!!! How nice to see another watercolor portrait!

The hair is wonderful to the max! Love the bits of color, this is the way to paint watercolor imo.

Love the loose style of her beautiful little face. All that is wrong is too much of earthtone in the facial colors...Just find other color, like W&N Scarlet Lake, or Carmine, and continue in the same style. I am loving this!!

Hello Pam, fun2cook, Gilberte, Marvin and Fooki.
Thanks for the kind words and advice!
For Gilberte: hallo Antwerpen!
I'm very glad you mention Charles Reid, because he is my virtual guide in watercolor painting. In September I'm going to participate to a workshop with Carles in Stoke-on-the-Wold, Great Britain. You can Imagen that I'm looking forward to it. (next posts, I shall upload the image
:-))
Best regards
Jan

Lovely and loose and very much in the style of Charles Reid, loose but very assured use of watercolour.

Hello Karen, Islander, Uschi, Charm, Lise and Al.
Thx. for the kind reactions.
The word loose and looseness emerged frequent in these reactions on my picture. So her is the web site of a very fine English watercolor painter who I admired very much. His work is so splendid and loose:

Welcome jan.
Love your portrait. It is not easy to get a likeness with this method. I have often tried.

Jan,
Thanks for the Yardley link. I've seen books of him here in town. He has a similar style as Robert Wade (Australian watercolorist you can find via Google). My friend and excellent artist Sonja Craen took last year's workshop with CH. REID in England too !
Hope you'll enjoy it.
Hope the sun continues shining in Beveren as it does here on Linkeroever :)
