I'm new to this site, but I thought I would post the drawing I am working on of my granddaughter in her highchair. I have done wildlife and rodeo scenes in the past and wanted to try something new, so I thought I would try a portrait. I chose this picture because her face fills the frame and knew it would test my ability to show the skin tones and her fine hair. I will add the hair at the end to keep it from being to heavy. Any tips, critiques, and comments are always welcome! Dan

Hi Dan ... welcome to D&S! You have a really good start here. One thing I'll caution you about ... when drawing children - especially babies - be careful with the shading. You're fine so far, but it's easy to overdo it and the child will age very quickly. Just something to keep in mind as you go ... but as I said, so far everything is just fine.

A lovely baby, Dan!. I agree with Ken`s advices....

I understand that you want to do a good work on the fine hair......remember about eyebrows...but maybe you are planning to do them....Just a thought.

Ken - Thank you for the advice. I am trying really hard not to over do the
shadowing, it is one of the things I struggle with the most.

Bren - Thanks for watching. I'm not the fastest but will update soon.

Luicre - Thank you for looking in. I'm going to add the eyebrows and complete
the eyelashes and hair at the end. I am working on a scrap piece of
paper to practice different techniques to prevent having to go over it
to many times and getting it too heavy.

I appreciate everyones input! Dan
