This is a piece I spent most of December / January on, painted for NC's duck stamp competition. It appears it tied for 6th place out of 32 entries, which I sure can't complain about!

Total size is 16" x 20", acrylic on board. The colors are a little off in this photo-- I always have a terrible time getting a good digital representation of my larger paintings.

I know I've already commented, but I really do love this one. I didn't know duck stamp pieces could be so large! The ones I've entered are no larger than 12".

That is a beautiful painting Jennifer and one of my favourite birds! We are coming up to the best time of year to get out and see them near my place.

Congratulations on the competition and well deserved!

WOW!!!! Incredible! I love this and can certainly see why it did well! Absolutely love the water too! The droplets from the Swan's beak and ripples it creates are just perfect! Amazing use of color and light! BRAVO!!

Thank you all so much for the kind words!

I know I've already commented, but I really do love this one. I didn't know duck stamp pieces could be so large! The ones I've entered are no larger than 12".

Each state varies a little bit. Several states have large size requirements-- 13" x 18", approximately, is not uncommon (I painted out to the edges of my board hence the 16" x 20"). I know NC, OR, CA, CO and possibly a few others have large sizes. A bit silly when they shrink it down to 1.5" x 2" or less, but it is what it is!
