Not actually 'postcards' as they are too big but the views would be good for postcards - Thanks Joel for your trip around this beautiful and exotic world.

As for the challenge to remove and unclutter - I think I've done that.

Been fighting my demons  with teh old watercolours and have decided that no matter what I do I cannot make my watercolours soft and delicate! It's just NOT me.

The one with the boats (Lake Tala) was frustrating!!!! I have been reading books and watching DVDs to learn about glazing with watercolour. I did what they said for the water reflections etc I used a hairdryer to dry AND left it 24 hours while I worked on the other one and some of the other bits I'd work then let dry and did the 2 in tandem. BUT when I applied the top glaze of blue or violet over the yellow reflcetions all I got was a muddy mess.

The photos make them look better than they are I have no idea why they look s 'soft' I used a tripod and daylight. In reality they are more pronounced esp the water.

I've been practicing water in different mediums so these 2 refs were perfect for than.

'Lake Taal'
25cm x 32 cm Hahnemule 300 gsm
White Knights Watercolour Pans
W & N White Gouache

'Fort Santiago Manilla'
Hahnemule 300 gsm 25cm x 32cm
White Knights watercolour pans

As for time - hard to tell. I was working on 2 at once, stopping for drying so the work for 2 hours, stop, rule - just didn't work in this case. I gues if I remove times for drying and using hair dryers and other stuff - probably just over 4 hours for the 2 over 2 days... but I was too buisy to keep stopping and note times to add up.

Thanks Joel!

They both look great.

Nicely done, particularly the yellow boats on the lake.

It's good to know which medium & technique does not suit oneself as an artist.

Great job on both of them. Your watercolors are strong, but that's far preferable than the pale, faded watercolors that some prefer. Especially like the boats, a difficult subject.

Nice job on both. You boats are truly "floating" and your waterlily pond is beautiful.

Hi Lin! These are fantastic! Thank you so much for seriously working on these two and with such successful results.

Yes, watercolors are so difficult to control and they behave like they have a mind of their own. Looking at your work, however, the waters and the reflections are very believable.

Look at these again after a few days and I'm sure you will agree with all of us that you did really well!

I have to add that the sense of depth on the pond (Fort Santiago) is amazing!

brilliant job on the boats, but I really love the santiago reflections and colors

Thanks so much all esp Joel for comments. I often leazve my works sat in the corner of the room for about a week (or until I can be bothered to stash them away) and look for tweaks and I guess they are grwoing on me. i prefer the Santiago pond though as the colours are cleaaner.
