I love the whole piece... just a suggestion though(coming from me is funny!)..i think a less detailed face would really work here...its kind of dreamy as it sits which is nice.. but my eye is drawn to the face which looks hard...maybe soften it a tad... just my thoughts...

a lovely composition jim, painting is brill........agree 100% with sarah's comment though, about the face......think it would be more in shadow.......

Sarah and Andy....I think you may be right about the face. I have changed it a couple of times, but it always seemed to want more detail. In reality the face, because of the backlight, is in total shadow! Hmmm, a real dilema. Thanks to you both for looking and commenting. Jim

I really like this melding of your two worlds lately, figurative & your interiors...if it were mine I think I'd crop it somewhere at the front of the table or the top...:)

I really love the lighting, you captured it through the window astonishingly well! I'm really into lighting lately, I love the way it makes you feel the artwork.
