Sorry Mo Didn't notice the challenge so just done them as is.

I've been trying to practice watercolours and landscapes as both are difficult for me. I also wanted to dabble in acrylics so here they are......

Even though I'd finished them both by Sunday I had trouble getting good images. I'd ran out of daylight by the time I'd finished them and I tried photos but the slightly orangy/yellow room light glare without a flash took all the blue/lilac out and they looked NOTHING like they really were and with flash they looked flat and lost values. In the end I scanned the sunflowers but the boating lake was too large.

'Sunny Sunflowers'
A4 textured 300gsm random watercolour paper
Acrylics

Sorry forgot to photograph it at 2 hours because it was bedtime. The computers were off and all were abed and I was gettign sleepy. I'd virtually finished anyway.

Took about 2 hrs 30

This one was fun! I simplified it and tried to capture the typical Welsh weather with the plain white sull sky,. In fact if I wanted to be true I should have added rain drop ripples to the water.

I couldn't clearly see in the photo ref the boats or how many so I reduced it to 2.

'Boating Lake, Tredegar Park'
14" x 10" Hahnemule 300gsm
St Petersburgh White Knights Watercolour pans
Because I detached it from the board when taking the first pics it didn't lie quite flat today so that's why the edges are a bit skew whiffy. It will be ok when flat in a frame.
2hr + drying intervals

I felt a lot happier about this watercolour than many of my others and feel I'm loosening up a bit more. Been using the hair dryer to practice building up glazing layers. This is the best shot I could get but you can't see where I've scumbled the water to add ripples.

Thanks for the lovely refs Mo!

These are both gorgeous...the Sunflowers are rich and the petals and foliage well formed.

Hi Mo - glad you are back - I bet you are really busy catching up on your challenges. Hosting is busy to be sure.

Ha the lalke reaminded me of hilton Court Gardens in Pembs. We went there and Dave pushed me through the cafe to and stopped and said ' shall I go back for the coats?' We said no - it was dull but hadnt' forecast rain.... good old Len Bateman at Radio Pembs - famous for being wrong :P We got all the way down to the lake and as soon as we'd taken out our picnic and i'd sorted out my oil pastels and sketchbook - down it came..... too wet to try to push me back so we sat under a tree eating butties in the rain watching the raindrops on the lake and the lillies dancing in the rain.

This ref reminded of that day. When it stopped we went back to the car and decided to go back on a day said same forecaster said it would rain so we knew it sould be dry... :lol

Thanks all for comments I did so enjoy these refs.
