Have been a little tied up with college and work stuff recently so my artwork has been neglected a bit lately, however i have a new piece on the go at the moment, a beautiful Cocker X Poodle, which is creating quite a challenge for me and is already taking quite a bit of time due to the amount of hair texture. Have posted a couple of early stage shots and will post my updates as i go along. Hope you like it so far!

Coloured pencil on Fabriano paper - 12" x 9" roughly.

WOW great start to this. is it going to be a black dog? would love to see posts on the colors used. I ask this every time I see someone doing one. :o :) Always like seeing what others use. Oh and what brand of pencils. Got my chair up front to watch this.

Thanks very much. It is a black dog, with a white patch on her chin and chest (which is very cute!). I am using a mixture of Derwent Studio and Coloursofts and FC Polys. I will try and post a list of the colours on here later - it might be quite long, haha. Seem to be using a bit of everything on this one! I always find it interesting to know what colours people are using too! :)

Thanks for the comments! Have another little update for you - i mean 'little' as only managed to get a couple of hours on it last night. It's quite slow going at this stage, but i feel this is one of the more 'fiddly' areas. I'm going to move down the ear now and this area is more loose in terms of the texture, it may move on a little quicker here i think.

Here is the latest update anyways!

Hey guys, thanks for looking in on my WIP. Some lovely comments, really appreciate it!

Have another update here. Nearly finished the ear now (subject to touching up at the end), moving onto the neck next. Quite slow going, but i am definitely enjoying this one.

Hope you like the latest update - will post more over the weekend hopefully as i intend to do a lot of drawing this weekend! :)

Got another update here of the weekend's progress. Got a fair bit done, but still a way to go yet. Really please with it so far. It's definitely a slow process but i'm enjoying it!

This picture wasn't taken in perfect light so will try and get a better photo tomorrow as this one is a little dark with a bit of a light spot on it.

Hope it shows enough of the progress and hopefully i'll have another update tomorrow with more of the body done.

Hope you like it so far!

Another update here! I am getting there with this one, have struggled a bit with spare time this week to draw but am hoping to try and have it finished by the end of the weekend.

Finding the hair on the body a bit hard going at times, so have started some work on the nose/muzzle. Really enjoying this one! :)

So i finished this piece yesterday and it went off to the framers (i'll post a framed picture when i get one). I am really pleased with it and looking forward to handing it over to the owners tonight. Spent a lot of time on the muzzle area, hence the delayed update.

However, finally finished...here is the completed piece and some close ups also. Hope you like it! :)
