Welcome!
You are now a member of the Internet's largest and most vibrant community of artists! We hope you come to love it as much as we do.
Now, you can:
Welcome to WetCanvas!, the largest forum on the internet for visual artists. My name is Karyn Meyer, and I'm the Lead Administrator for WC! and I'd like to share the purpose and aim of our community.
WC! was founded in 1998 by Scott Burkett, an artist and entrepreneur who had a desire to foster a community for artists to gather and share their ideas and talents. The site has grown and flourished to become the largest forum on the Internet for visual artists with over 122,000 members.
This past spring, The Artist's Magazine added WC! to our publishing family with the intent to continue this growth and nurture this site as a place for artists to explore and and to find their unique creative voice. The forums are a place for every member to teach and be taught. The site is about learning opportunities, community interaction, and members finding their creative side, giving all skill levels a chance to participate. WetCanvas! is here to offer anyone the opportunity to contribute and make art in any medium.
There are plenty of forums to choose from, ranging not just in medium, but also in topic, in business advice, and in social debate. There is a project system to offer ideas, and there are plenty of classrooms with structured lessons. In the upcoming year, there will be more educational tools added to the site so that members have the most that can be offered to an artist on the web.
As the site has grown and developed, so has the volunteer staff that helps to guide the ship. We have over 100 volunteers, all whom are active artists, giving generously of their time to keep the site clean from too-aggressive commercialism and to offer members help in using the tools. Many thanks go to them for helping to give WetCanvas! structure and movement forward.
I am glad that you have chosen to participate on this amazing site. I hope that you find the community and character to be as rewarding to your artistic life and creative development as it has been to me and to thousands of other people.
Warm Regards,
Karyn
