Strong Points

• The texture of the stones in the real scene can be overwhelming to paint. You managed to simplify this and it still tells us there are stones.

• The blue and red clothing on the figure helps the main subject stand out.
• The colored buildings at the center invite to row in and follow the boat.
• The water has a nice feeling to it because the ripples make the water look like it's moving.

Areas to work on:

Avoid placing the main subject of your painting in the center. I cropped the original painting in order to place the subject to the side. Also it is more interesting since the two walls don't look like a mirror image.

I think you are mixing your colors too much on the palette. If you mix them right on the canvas instead you will get more color variety and make those gray areas more alive. I simulated this electronically. There is a hint of change of colors on the two walls. I didn't want exaggerate this because I
wanted to stick more closely to your original color feeling.
