From the artist:

Hi, My name is Joy and I'm submitting a watercolor that is approx. 6"x8" in size. I use to paint and take lessons as a teen and then got a away from it for about 20 yrs. This picture is one that I've done in hopes of printing for use on my own line of greeting cards along with other small paintings that I've done. I welcome any suggestions besides those of my teenager!

The Learning Gallery: Teacup
Strong Points:

Nice combination of cool and warm colors. Having used blue in the cup helps offset the domineering orange hue. In general I feel it was well handled. This shows that any subject can make a nice painting.

My Modifications:

I only made a few changes. I feel that tea is quite dark so I dropped the value. This also helps make the value contrast pop out more. I also emphasized the shadows in the napkin a bit more as well as under the cup. I cropped it in order to remove the excess space around the cup.

Additional comments:

Go ahead and print it on a greeting card!
