| I started out making Jewelry a long time ago, and have learned quite a few nifty techniques in the interim. This article should teach you how to do several of the easy wire techniques to build this nifty little bracelet.
You'll make eyepins, bead cages, spirals, twists, coils, loops and danglies. I hope the techniques shown will help you on future projects! |
| For this tutorial, you'll need several things. First, you need a pair of chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers and close cutters. |

| You will also need something to wrap wire around [it should be just barely as large as your bead or marble - I used my little wire wrapping jig (purple block) with one of the larger pegs] and a spool of 20 or 22 gauge wire. You'll also want to have handy at least one marble, a toggle or some sort of bracelet closure, and a few decorative beads.

| The wire I used for this is copper, plated with some sort of silver. It's jewelry wire, but it tarnishes and picks up dirt like mad. As you can see from my cleaning cloth, it really seriously needed cleaning.
For this, I used a standard silver cleaning cloth I picked up at Walmart, which works great. Pull off about 3 feet of wire (about 90 centimeters), and polish it until you're satisified it's clean. It'll be dirty again by the time you're done, so just mainly focus on getting the grime and gunk off it, especially if it's spent a lot of time in storage. | ![]() |
![]() | To get the hardest part out of the way first, we're going to make the cage for wrapping the marble in.
Once your wire is clean, start with the end of it, and make a triple twist using your round nose pliers. You will be doing this on both sides of the marble to hold it, but you should note that if you don't twist it just right, the loop will be off center. This isn't important for this first step, but it is very important later, if you don't want to unwrap this twist and redo it. You should also try to be careful not to dent your wire. |
