| With a variety of starburst gradients I combine gradient within gradients.
As you can see, the ways of finishing this off are absolutely unlimited. Personally, I prefer to finish it with pen and ink, the old fashioned way, black background. There you have it - your basic Celtic knot. This is the first piece in a series which will explore Celtic knotwork and iterations. Our next installment will deal with using a larger grid (a 5 x 5), and with the second alternate end cap, a 1/2” by 3” section. This has a couple of more rules to it, but the results will be fantastic. We’ll also be using our ellipse gauges to get a better sense of roundness. Installments after that will include: 1. A larger grid (6 x 6) with the third and final alternate starting end cap. 2. Letters, easier ones to start with, then ones with angles and curves. 3. Circles and circular patterns Our series will conclude with a word embossed in Celtic knot work - this will use all of the skills we’ve learned and we’ll make up a few along the way! Stay tuned for the next lesson. |
