"Drawing a Gothic Arch"

Author: kitaye, Contributing Editor

You now have a drawing of an arch that you can use in any painting or drawing. The method I have shown you can be used to draw any size arch as long as you follow the proportion guidelines. You can add scalloped edges to indicate roundness or leave them straight as seen in the reference photos.

The next article will show you how to use this tutorial to create a stone wall using pen and ink. I hope you join me in exploring inking of a stone wall with arch.

Thank you,
Kitaye

Kitaye, known as Dee outside of the internet, is a self taught artist who explores so many mediums that she could probably open her own art supply shop. Even though Kitaye explores different mediums her all time love is pen and ink. When asked why, she says "I think I just love the fussiness of it all."
Kitaye is currently living in Edmonton, Alberta. She is an Electronic Technologist for Canada's Air Navigation Service. She enjoys her work, relaxing with her husband, watching movies while sketching and drawing, and taking long camping vacations. Kitaye feels that Wetcanvas! has done more to motivate and educate her than anything else, but admits that she has several art technique books that have guided her on her discovery of art.
