| Making a banner in GIMP
Let's start off by creating a new image. At the top of the toolbox, go to File > New. When the dialog comes up, set the width to 468 and the height to 60 (the maximum dimensions allowed for banners on the site.) Click OK. |

| Now let's leave the new image for a moment and prepare the images we will be using, and which we will subsequently copy onto the spanking new canvas we just made. Go to File > Open. In the Open Image dialog, browse for the first image. Click Open. |
