Now we're going to eliminate all parts of the image outside our selection, or crop the image. Go to Edit > Crop selection, or press Ctrl + Y. Below is a capture of what it should look like after cropping.
The next important step in making our avatar is to resize our large square and make it just the right size for our forum needs. Click on Image > Resize/Resample (Ctrl+R). The following dialog will come up.
To the left, in the area labelled "Set new size:", set the width to "60". If "Preserve aspect ratio" was checked at the bottom, then the height will also be automatically set to scale with the original size of the image. If not, just set the height manually to "60" as well, and click OK.
