| Straightening Lens Distortion
When taking photographs with modern zoom lenses, sometimes the perspective in the picture is distorted. For example, in the photo below, the tower looks like it is going to fall over. |

| To correct this kind of false perspective, open your image and select View \ Show Grid. This will put grid lines over your image. You can adjust the grid lines by selecting Image \ Config Grid.
With the grid lines in place, you can see just how far out of vertical the ones in your image are. Now, select Tools \ Transform Tools \ Perspective. Small squares will appear at the corners of your image, and the Perspective dialog window opens. At this point, you just drag the small squares at the corners of your image as much as necessary to align your image’s verticals with the grid, as shown in Figure 18. |

| Once you have corrected the image as much as you want, select the Transform button in the dialog box. Crop the image as required, and there you go. The photo below was done rather quickly and could still use some tweaking. However, occasionally you need to realize that you are not going to get the image to be perfect in all areas. Sometimes you may need to compromise. |
