| What to do if none of our forums is a fit
If you're working in a particular medium or subject and we do not currently have a forum that fits your work, there are a few things you can do. The Mixed Media/Alternative Materials/Other Media forum is open to any work created in a media not listed in the other forums. Occasionally we will get such a wave of people using a particular media that we will begin a forum for it. This is how forums are started, and new ones are popping up all the time. But until there is one for your work, you're always welcome in Mixed Media. There are some forums that already accept certain work in a certain media or style, despite the differences. For example, gouache is usually posted in the Watercolour forum, or Acrylic forum, depending on how it is used. People often post water-soluable oils in the Oil forum. Cartoons are usually put in the Illustration forum. Of course, if you still have questions regarding where to post, you can return to the New Users Forum and ask where your work is most appropriate, or ask any guide or moderator in your forum of choice to tell you whether your work can be posted there. The most important thing to remember is that we love and accept all kinds of art (except the plainly pornographic), regardless of what you do, and so we are here to help point you in the right direction to get the most out of the site. That’s a guide to the forums, but there are a couple of other things you might like to know. One is that cross-posting in more than one forum is acceptable at WetCanvas!, so long as it’s not carried to extremes. So, if you’ve done a pastel landscape and you want some help with the composition, it’s all right to post in the Pastel forum, the Landscape forum, and the Composition & Design forum. As a general rule, posting the same work in three forums is acceptable, but we ask you to think seriously before posting it in four or more – please. Also, unlike some other sites on the Web, WetCanvas! is very strict about flaming, personal attacks on others, and profanity, even in its Debates forum. If you indulge in these behaviors, we have a three-strikes rule. You’ll get up to two warnings, then a final warning, and if you persist after that, you’ll be banned from WetCanvas! We hate doing that, but civility reigns here because it just makes it a much more pleasant and productive place to spend time. WetCanvas! is about bringing artists together for mutual support, so please bear that in mind when you’re posting at the site. Thanks! Now, go post something! :D |
