| A note about critiques: many new users are disappointed when they see that a lot of members have looked at their work in these forums, but haven’t commented. They think this means the lookers didn’t like the work. This isn’t necessarily the case. First of all, there are so many forums at the site and so many new posts a day that no one can look at them all and comment. Many members never post, they just look at the work here and soak up inspiration.
Also, sometimes members are reluctant to say anything about a new member’s work until they’ve had a chance to come to “know” the poster by seeing a number of his or her works or reading enough of his/her posts. You can increase your chances of getting comments by actively soliciting them in the title of your thread or in the text of the post. Just say you’d welcome “C&C,” which stands for comments and critiques. So if you don’t immediately get a lot of responses, just know that you’re not alone; it doesn’t mean everyone hates your work! If you look at most of the posts in these forums, you’ll see that “views” of the posts vastly outnumber “replies.” It’s just the nature of these forums, so please don’t be discouraged prematurely. |
| The next grouping of forums is the Artist Marketplace, a good place to know about if you want to sell, buy or swap work with other members. The Swap Shop is for selling or swapping art supplies, equipment, etc. to other members, and the Bargain Basement, which will shortly be replaced by something even better, is a good place to unload excess inventory of your artworks. |

| Art Business is a grouping that will interest many of you who sell your work, whether it’s right out of your studio, on the sidewalks, at a gallery or on the internet. In addition to general art business discussions (sales taxes, galleries, commissions, etc.), there are forums dedicated to legal issues, and professional news about the successes of WetCanvas! members. |

| Miscellaneous Forums is pretty much just what it sounds like. These are the forums that don’t fit into the other groupings, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some very interesting stuff going on in them! Want to know about color theory, color mixing, or composition? There are forums here for those subjects. Here, too, you can find tips on keeping your studio in working order, get help teaching art or finding good art training. If you’re finding you use the computer more and more in your art work, there’s a forum here to help you with the pesky issues technology presents. |

| The next grouping is the medium-specific forums and it’s called Explore Media. These forums are dedicated to specific art mediums, such as oils, printmaking, digital art, glass, drawing, pastels, and so on. Many of them have sub-forums that explore their media further, such as the Pastels forum, which has separate sub-forums for oil pastels and soft pastels, or which allow devotees to just get to know one another and share problems and information | ![]() |
