| MERITS
If you see that there are people in the forum who regularly give kudos or encouraging comments, or ask questions that spawn informative topics, then give them a merit point. If they show a general interest in the information presented, show that they are supportive of other members, and have been actively posting works you may also be inclined to give them a merit point. These points are for anyone who shows a general interest in participating on the board, and deserves some recognition for just being a great member of our community. MENTORS Mentor tabs acknowledge someone who has been very helpful and good about giving useful advice. This is for the person who tries hard to give helpful information, and is interested in teaching other members of the site (I would assume in a place such as this, there would be MANY mentor points floating around - we have so many wonderful contributers to this place!). If you have posted a question in here, and receive a post by a member which you find is very informative, incredibly helpful, and just shows that they have put a lot of effort in trying to help you, then award them your point because they definitely deserve it! Distributing mentor points shows that they are a valuable contributer to the community, and shows that you are appreciative of the time and effort they put into their responses. |
| Of course, it takes more than just your vote to give a member a tab, so don't be disgruntled if you vote and nothing happens - yet. All the voting is tallied up in our system, and the member's participation in the forum is also tracked. When they finally meet the requirements, they are finally awarded their tab.
It takes a lot of voting, and a lot of participation to get yourself a tab, so vote and vote often around the boards, and be an active member of the community to earn yours. Members who receive these tabs can take pride in knowing that other members see them as being a valuable part of the community, and appreciate their efforts. The other kind of tabs are granted for participation in other areas of the site. Members are only able to vote to award Mentor and Merit tabs. AUTHOR Author tabs are granted to people who have contributed a lot to a forum by writing and publishing articles. MODERATOR Moderator tabs are granted to people who moderate in forums. When a moderator decides to step down from moderating a forum, they lose their tab in that forum. GUIDE Guide tabs are awarded to people who guide in a forum. When a guide chooses to step down from a forum, or changes hats, they lose their guide tab in that forum. |
| If you decide that you would not like to participate in the award system, and would not like to be given awards, you have the choice to Opt-Out from your user control panel.
To access this, go into MyWC!. In the left-hand toolbar under Options and Settings go into Edit Options. From here, under Login & Privacy you can find the option Opt-Out from the Awards System? Simply select yes and you will be exempted from all awards. |
