"Uploading Images to WetCanvas"

Author: Artie, Contributing Editor

There are a number of ways to upload your images to WetCanvas to share with other members. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, so let's check out how it all works; then you can make the decision about which will work better for YOU!

Please note: This article describes how to upload images for viewing in the WetCanvas forums. If you are looking for information on adding images to the Art-Agent Virtual Gallery, please see the
online help or the thread in the New Users forum.
First of all, let's review a few of the guidelines for posting images.

Size Guidelines

Most image uploading problems occur because an image does not meet these size guidelines, so please review them carefully.

  • Images must be 600(high) x 500(wide) pixels or less.
  • Total file size must be 100kbs or under.
  • Image resolution should be at 72dpi - most monitors can't display any higher resolution.

To resize your images to meet these requirements, you need image editing software. Your scanner or digital camera may include this software. If not, there are free programs you can download to resize your images, and most are very easy to use. Click on this link to learn more.

General Guidelines

  • If you are posting an image with nudity, please remember to use the Butt Icon when making your post.
  • Make sure your file name does not include unusual characters such as _ & * % @ +.
  • Cross-posting your work is allowed, as long as you don't overdo it. Showing your image in two or three relevant forums makes it easier for more people to see your work. However, posting your work in every single forum you can think of is considered spamming and your threads may be removed.
  • Do not link to images on other websites. Remote-linking images is not allowed. Remote-linking means you take an image on another website and use coding to make that image show up on our site. Images only show up on WC! if they are hosted on our servers, so you must use one of the methods described in this article or simply leave the hyperlink to the image.
  • If you use Photoshop, you can automate the uploading process. WetCanvas member Windy has written a handy tutorial for Photoshop users. See this thread.

INSERT IMAGE

By far the easiest way to include images in your forum posts is to use the Insert Image icon when you are creating a new thread or replying to a thread.
1. When you are replying to a post or creating a new one, put your cursor where you want the image to appear. Click the Insert Image icon.
