Single Crochet



Now, you get to start building your piece. This is often the most intimidating part of the process, taking the chain to the next level--once you've mastered this, the rest will be easy.



Skipping the very last link in your chain, insert your hook into the next chain stitch. Yarn over.
Now, you have two loops on your hook. Yarn over again, pulling the yarn through both loops. This is your single crochet stitch.



Single crochet is abbreviated sc in patterns.
