WetCanvas! A Day in the Life: May 16th, 2004.

On May 16th, 2004 artists from all corners of WetCanvas! joined together to take a snapshot from their daily lives. WC! is a global community, with an eclectic mix of artists, so we thought this should make for a very interesting collection of photos. We were absolutely right! So sit back and enjoy A Day in the Life through the eyes of WC!

Anyone who knows my photography could tell you I have a yellow cab fixation. So during my wandering on the day of the project I was delighted to find where yellow cabs go to die.

Aurora, Illinois, is the end of the Burlington Northern/Sante Fe line coming southwest from Chicago. Long before there was a Burlington Northern or Santa Fe, in the days of steam locomotives, Aurora was a railroad town, with a roundhouse at the end of the line to turn the trains around. This roundhouse is now Walter Peyton's Roundhouse Restaurant and Brew Pub, but the memory of its original purpose remains, and this statue is a tribute to the men who worked in the roundhouse. The statue is located at the railroad station in Aurora, which is right next to the roundhouse. I pick my son up there every work day, and I also picked him up there today, so this was a fitting image for my "day in the life."
