When I proposed an art project to be entitled "Wetcanvas! A Day In The Life", the response was incredible. Participants were to photograph the people, places and things around them which they found inspiring with the caveat being to take photographs on the same date. February 23rd 2003 was chosen by popular vote, so WetCanvasers from around the globe set out to document their world. They posted the fruit of their labors into their project portfolios.

Once the projected was over, participants were asked to choose one of their photographs and submit it along with a few words explaining their choice. This article is the result of these submissions.

Enjoy!

I thought I'd start out with my own image. I had planned on taking a Manhattan skyline shot as it the city which inspires my photography every day. When I crossed the Brooklyn bridge there was no visibility so walking up Broadway this scene presented itself.

I began my walk today knowing that I would be taking photos of flowers. Hoping that the hot weather and water restrictions hadn't killed off everything.
My trusty little "Nikki" (Nikon coolpix 2500) looped though my carry bag, so as not to drop her. I set off.
My main concentration was texture and colour and a meaning to it all.

I snapped off photo after photo, adjusting settings from Auto to Manual to Macro to Landscape. 100 photos all told. I found the meaning to it all when I spotted the "Water Tower" ~ For without it, these plants and flowers would not exist. It was like a premature good-bye to my neighbourhood too. I will be moving to a much more appetizing visual landscape this year sometime. I hope.

I chose this rose from someone's garden because the colour struck me as delicious. The more I looked at it, the more sensual it became in shape and form. To me, very feminine. What more fitting to nature than a full bloomed red rose. :)

This is a baby tree fern, so typical of NZ bush. Symbolises the rapid growth of a baby plant in NZ summertime. This plant spoke to me on an emotional level and was taken at Botanic Gardens in Wellington, harbour Capital City of NZ.
