"Using Photoshop to Evaluate Preliminary Sketches"

Author: Cathy_Sheeter, Contributing Editor

At this point it is easy for me to see that my sketch needs a bit of work before I move onto adding detail to the drawing. The ears are not placed correctly, the right cheek (left side of drawing) is going too deep and is not angular enough around his muzzle, his back is too high, and the nose has been drawn too large. Now I am much more able to see my mistakes and correct them for the final drawing. Taking this extra step to ensure the accuracy of my preliminary sketch will ensure a more realistic looking final drawing!
