Lift out highlights with the eraser. Add dark accents with the charcoal.
This is the simplest method of portrait drawing I've ever seen. You can continue refining, darkening, and adding detail as much as you like from this point. Using masses to get the big shapes in first makes it so much easier to get the details right at the end. I hope you've enjoyed it!

Ruth lives in Myrtle Beach, SC, USA. She received a B.A. in Art Education from the University of SC and taught art in Horry County schools.
