| The Creation of Independence
I was asked some time back if I would do a tutorial. I was quite flattered that anyone would even be interested in the process I employ. I have been offered so many great tips and encouragment from so many here that I thought I would use this opportunity to try and give back a little of the information I have received over the years. This community of artists has been such a wonderfully inspiring group for me. At the time I was asked to do a tutorial, I was working on the piece I have entitled Independence. |
 | I like to model with oil based clay (plastiline) I prefer sulphur free because it is easier on molds. I like to start with aluminum wire for an armature, and bulk the clay on to that.

| Now I bulk out the right hand and start stressing the emotion with the veins and musculature. |  |

| This piece was intended to show someone breaking through barriers so originally I decided it needed to show the head coming through as well, so to start the head, I actually use chicken wire and an expandable foam
