| Work your way clockwise around the shape, selecting the three adjoining pieces of the same color and using the Unite command on each group. You should end up with this: | ![]() |
| You can experiment with different fills for the shapes until you find something you like.
Run through these same steps a couple of times until they become second nature. Then try the same thing using three squares. Build the first square the same as before: Edit > Copy (Command C), and then paste it down on top of itself -- Edit > Paste In Front (Command F). This time rotate it 120 degrees. Copy the new square (Command C), paste it down (Command F), and rotate the new square 120 degrees. You'll end up with something like this: |

| That's it for the first lesson. Since this is my first online tutorial, I'm going to post this part and wait for some feedback before we go on to the next stage, just to make sure that things are easy enough for everyone to follow. You should have more than enough here to keep you busy for a little while. Next time I'll show you how to create complex shapes using the Pathfinder window. Have fun!
