| Unfortunately my picture didn't come out of this step, but it is just like the skimming of the alum picture. After you pull a patterned paper, you need to use several strips of newspaper and skim off the top surface of the size. The left over color will transfer to the newspaper. You will also need to pop bubbles and check for debris floating around at this point. |
![]() | Here is another stone pattern in the making. |
![]() | Most patterns are based on the Gel Git. This is a Turkish phrase that means "come and go" or "back and forth." First make your stone pattern with the whisk or eyedropper (note: the eydropper drops large droplets and they often fall to the bottom of the pan, prematurely muddying the sizing). You may use your rake to go back and forth but I prefer using a knitting needle or bamboo skewer. Go back and forth vertically and then horizontally. This breaks up the color droplets and draws the color out. |
![]() | Here I pull a 1/4" comb vertically over a horizontal gel git towards me to create the Non Pareil pattern. |
![]() | Sometimes you need to pop the bubbles before laying the paper down. |
