Title: "Zarathustra's Sunset" Size: 24" x 20". Medium: Oil on stretched canvas Year: 2002. WC! played a very important role in the creation of this painting. The reference image I used to paint from was a photo posted in the photography forum by Zarathustra (hence the title of the painting). He was kind enough to give me permission to paint his photo, which I loved. The colors in the photo just begged to be put on canvas. I posted photos of this painting in the oil forum as I worked on it, and got much valuable feedback from the people there. This painting was a new experience for me, working with a limited palette to capture the mood of a winter sunset on a quiet English street. WC! has helped me to learn new techniques, and encouraged me to try out new ideas. Just being able to bounce ideas off other artists is a tremendous benefit. Since I joined WC!, I've grown so much as an artist, and I feel this painting is a perfect example of that achievement. www.thirdroar.com |

Title: Mal from Memory Date: 5/5/2002 Size: 500 x 320 pixels Medium: Digital Color over an original pencil drawing " I came to Wet Canvas! looking to rekindle my interest in art after a self imposed 6 year hiatus. I had no idea that in a week of it, I would be chatting with the members in the Cafe, or that it would be such a forceful inclusion of my life for the last 2 years. This piece was done last May 5th, after telling Sandy, "Yeah I can draw you from memory". It is a prime example of what I like most about WC, simply that the best inspiration comes from the ones you love... " |
