Wet Canvas is a fabulous community that offers something for everyone. For me, it has been an invaluable source of information, inspiration and support. The members here have provided me the opportunity to learn and grow in a nurturing environment. I thank everyone at Wet Canvas for their generosity and friendship. My interests include painting, sculpting, photography and coloured pencil.
My artwork is inspired by the magical world in which we live and attempts to instill an appreciation of it, despite the paradox's of life and the challenges we face as human beings.

I've gotten to this point in my art with the valuable help from Wet Canvas. I started painting almost two years ago. I'm teaching myself and the Wet Canvas communtity of wonderful artist have been so helpful to me. It was one of the most exciting sites I was referred to. I have to thank Pampe for that and I have referred people likewise. Thanks to all the folks at Wet Canvas. Great site and hope this site prospers. *S* They have worked hard and have done such a good job.

Title: "Private Time"
Size: 16" x 20".
Medium: watercolor on 300 lb cold press paper
Year: 2002

My life changed as soon as I became involved with WetCanvas. That was years ago and yet still today I call WC! my "online home"
Although I no longer am able to spend the time I would like to, I still take comfort in just knowing I can go to wc anytime for the kind of encouragement and support we all need from time to time. When my inspiration is waning, I can just hop into the reference library and get that "shot in the arm" again. For even more inspiration a visit to the watercolor forum fills the bill. It is such fun to see the progress and growth of those who started as beginners and evolved into "emerging artists" ! The lessons and tips provided at wc are always offering me helpful new insights. Thanks Scott for all your hard work !! My hat is off to all
you staff members too.... I do miss our old "chats".

This painting was originally supposed to hang in a local library for the children's reading room. It was sold before I could get it there and now I need to start a different one. It is from a photo - 16" x 20". Carol aka oleCC

Title: "A Mother's Love"
Size: 10" by 14"
Medium: Colored Pencil on Paper
Year: May 2002

The piece I selected represents a lot of "firsts" for me. It is the first colored pencil piece I did. It is the first double portrait that I did. It's also the first larger piece I did and my first serious attempt at art. Without WetCanvas, I would never have attempted it. Almost a year ago, I was spending a lot of time at Elfwood, a fantasy art site, and thinking to myself that I had the ability to do more than some random sketching. After months of looking and wishing, I still had not done anything more than one sketch. Then, I read someone's comments on a piece. The person had posted a link to WetCanvas. I checked out the link and was immediately hooked. I commented on the work in the Colored Pencil forum and said I wanted to try colored pencils. I received a lot of encouragement. So, I started this piece and never looked back. "A Mother's Love" is based on a black & white picture of one of my friends and her son. I fell in love with the picture because it radiated the warmth and emotion that I feel when I am with my own son.

What does WetCanvas mean to me? It means everything. If it weren't for this site, I would be thinking about art instead of doing it. I recently set up my website and took my first paid commission. WetCanvas and the wonderful community helped me commit to becoming a professional artist, and I'd like to thank all of you for that. Thanks to Scottb for providing such a fantastic place. Thanks to Bobby (baquitania) for making me laugh so much. Big hug to TeAnnekat, Arlene, Jakeally, K.C., Chooky and Sassybird. Big smile and wave to CP, P & I and Fantasy/Sci Fi forums. I'd mention all the folks there, but it would take to long. You know who you are. ;)

Title: Mysteries of the Kansas Beaches
Size: 25x35
Medium: Airbrushed acrylics on acid-free illustration board
Year: 2002

This piece was, as you know, a Wet Canvas Project piece. It was finished in January of 2002, and was sold before it was first exhibited. It was exhibited at the Deep Ellum Show in Dallas, TX, in April of this year, and at several Kansas City shows early in the year..

The piece is quite a bit different from previous paintings, but has been well-received, and forms a nice transition between my earlier, more sci-fi oriented pieces, and the work I am starting to create now.

Keith.
