![]() | I clear off the center of my palette, and then proceed to mix up an opaque version of my tree mixture. To refresh your memory, this is simply Cobalt Blue & Naples Yellow Hue. I also add a bit of Raw Umber to darken it. |
![]() | Here, you can see the progress of the tree. I’ve added some white to brighten the dark green for highlights here and there.
Even though the tree in the reference photo doesn’t really have highlights, it would look a bit silly without a few, IMHO. Ah, that artistic liberty! Also, notice how I used the tip of the knife blade to "flick" the edges of the tree into the sky area. What an effect! Love those knives ... |
![]() | Here, I mix up an opaque version of my foreground grass mixture. Winsor Lemon, and a bit of Cobalt Blue.
Note the second pool with white, for a nice highlight color. |
![]() | Taking this a bit further, you can take a bit of the dark pool, and a bit of the light pool, to mix up a good midtone! |
![]() | Here, you can see where I've used my knife to pull the green color throughout the foreground.
I've also put some opaque color back in the background trees. |
