"Water Reflections"

Painting reflections can be fun.
To make them look realistic we just need to follow a few rules.
When we look at water all we see are the colours of the objects that the surface is reflecting.
On flat still water the angle of incidence as our eye line meets the water is always equal to the angle of reflection
The reflections when seen from a lower view point are always longer than when viewed from a higher view point.

Excuse the scale ,I exagerated to show the difference more clearly.
When the water is rippled with waves the surface angle is changed and hence the reflection is altered to another angle.

So when we see a post from a distance its reflection is broken up and sky is reflected in between each post reflection.
We also have to decide which objects are seen in the reflection.

As you can see in the diagram, the flag although it can be seen direct is not shown in the reflection.

Only the upper portion of the house and rear tree are reflected.

Objects close to the edge like the tree on the bank are reflected completely.
