"Avon River Sunset"

Progress so far of our painting.
Next we paint the trees on the left bank. Paint the trunks using a mix made from Burnt Umber with a touch of Ultramarine Blue to darken.

For the foliage we will use a natural sponge. I have torn a piece off the sponge so that I have a piece with a fine textured edge.

I added a few drops of water to my pan of light red so it would be soft and ready for the foliage.

Prepare your piece of sponge by wetting with clear water and then sqeeze out the excess water so that it is just barely damp. Dip the end of your sponge straight into your pan of Light Red.

Then dab onto your paper changing the angle of the sponge with each stroke to give a nice variation.
Using a mix of Raw Sienna I painted a wash on the grass area and dropped in a touch of Burnt Umber while it was still wet to give some variation.
