| Masking fluid is used to preserve the paper for the flowers and foliage. I did not sketch in the flowers, make them up as you go, choose your own or check out the finished painting and copy those. Use a fine brush or an ink pen to draw in the stems and flower patterns and leaves . Masking Fluid article | ![]() |

| We will use a blue/grey colour made from a mix of ultramarine blue/ burnt umber. Also a mix of raw sienna , a mix of light red and a mix of burnt umber. Only use a little water when making the colour washes as the paper will be wet when we apply them. First using a mop brush wet all the paper except for the cat. Go carefully around the cats outline. Apply the raw sienna and the blue grey to the damp surface first and allow to disperse. Then apply the light red followed by the burnt umber. If you apply all three colours using a small brush they can be placed carefully and will not spread very much. Follow the block patterns as you apply. Don't worry if the paint spreads between blocks. We will correct later. |
![]() | Some of our earlier washes would have over spread between the blocks. To remove the paint , run a small damp chisel brush along the brick line. and lift the paint by dabbing with a tissue. |
