| Prepare your kiln. I have a front loading Paragon firebrick kiln. I have kilnwashed the floor and the sides of the kiln. I line the bottom of the kiln with thinfire paper because it gives me a nice smooth finish on the back of the finished pieces – but if you put your kilnwash on smooth enough, you won’t need to use it. Decide for yourself. Please wear a respirator when handling the kiln paper. Use water to clean up after you’re done firing. The kiln paper disintegrates and leaves dust on the bottom of your kiln that you want to avoid breathing. | ![]() |
