| How is your instruction set up and how can others find out about your classes?
I teach hot glass bead and jewelry making skills, and also techniques in a one on one or group setting. If you are interested in classes, please e-mail me for the particulars. I always do my best to accommodate everyone, but this will be a very busy year. |
| Are any of your works on display in galleries or museums?
I think one of them may be somewhere in the Corning museum collection of glass. I was at the Rakow library there at Corning, a most amazing place for anyone interested in glass, in the late eighties and the librarian was incredibly helpful. I made a little sculpture of her bringing books to a person at a table and sent it to her. The librarian was an easy caricature because she always wore her hair in a bun on top of her head. Shortly after sending the little sculpture to the librarian, a letter shows up saying "thank you for your contribution to the Corning museum of glass..." so maybe, somewhere deep in the recesses of the Corning collection, is something I did. |
| What technique would you like to share with other glass bead artists?
The thing that might benefit the most people would be a quick description of how to achieve a well proportioned round bead with a minimum of effort, and to correct any deficiencies in the bead. These techniques will help you turn any misshapen lump of glass into a bead. Hopefully this will help those struggling with shape. I will put all the really basic stuff in this too, maybe it will make it understandable enough that some of those who have never tried bead making might be tempted to give it a spin. |
