Once we are pretty close, does not have to be exact, to our tire shape, and close to being centered on the mandrel, we can start heating the bead for the final rounding out.
Getting a very equal amount of heat all around the bead will help a lot now. Slowly roll the bead in the torch flame until you see or feel through the mandrel that the glass is soft enough to move around on the mandrel. The glass will be quite yellow in color. Never stop turning the mandrel, and keep the mandrel level once the glass starts getting hot enough to move.
Come out of the flame, hold the mandrel level, and turn the mandrel so you are looking down the mandrel like you are sighting a rifle. You are still turning, right? Now watch how the glass is moving around on the mandrel, and try to time how fast you turn the mandrel so that the glass distributes itself evenly around the mandrel in a round shape.
