| 5. THE FINAL TOP is local art supply store for some backgrounds. I got a few sheets of color paper measuring about 19 in X 25 and they were $1-2 each, and I chose a couple of shades of gray and a white and a black sheet and some "others".
You may want to get different colors depending on "what" you will be shooting. The back ground becomes important because it can either draw all the color out of your subject making rather dull and unappealing or enhance the colors and give the subject real "life" - the secret here is experiment with the background colors. | ![]() |
| THINGS TO SCROUNGE UP AROUND THE HOUSE
A tripod or some sort of fixture to hold camera steady, or maybe nothing, you may prefer to hand hold camera during shooting. I prefer to have camera on tripod or fixture because it eases setup and when in macro mode there will be no movement. You may want a cable release if you are using a film camera or to use the timer function, these things are personal preference. A "plug in strip", preferable one with a built in switch, because if the flood lights do not have switches on then, you will need a way to turn them off and on, and they will need power anyway. Next we will need a work space. Kitchen or dining room table will work well even something as small as a TV tray! A few chairs will be useful to hold flood lamps. |
| PUTTING IT TOGETHER
First we will be cutting some pieces of plastic pipe. You will need: 4 pieces 16 inches long. 4 pieces 22 inches long 2 pieces 18 inches long Or you may want to use different dimensions to suit your own needs, We will assemble it this way. |

| NEXT WE WILL place it on the table top. Be sure to put something down to protect top if it's "fine furniture".
Now we will cut a couple of diffusers for the styrene panels. Measure out 2 - 18x24 pieces either white or clear. It's you choice here. The white will give a bit softer light. You can just use a straight edge and a utility knife to score the panels and just "snap" them by gently bending them at the score. Clip these panels to sides of frame work. Using plastic clamps. | ![]() |
![]() | NOW WE WILL add the background (color of choice). Simply drape it off the back support and down into area between side panels. This will be the "stage" where you will do the presentation for shooting.
