Watercolor Painting, My Way!: Roses : L3

Author: Rod Webb, Associate Editor

Rose petals painted using wet soft edge techniques.

First, the color is placed. To soften one edge a wet brush is worked towards the color edge. The first brushstroke lays a band of clear water parallel to edge. The next brushstroke joins the two washes, so they "merge".

A faded soft color edge is produced.

Petals painted one at a time allowing complete drying before adjacent petals worked.
