Watercolor Painting, My Way!: A Fairy in My Garden: L11/15

Author: Rod Webb, Associate Editor

To the left, you can see the underside of the leaf that has been painted using the green mix (at the top), and slowly changing the color to mauve towards the bottom.
Here, I noticed a leaf stem that I wasn't happy with.

Look at the center plant and you will see that by painting in the side leaves, I have made the stem too narrow. I also decided to add another leaf.

The two side ones looked too balanced. This can be corrected.

I used the same method I used previously on the lily pads. Using a firm damp brush, work into the paint and lift with tissue or blotting paper.

If you look closely to the right of the stem, you will see that I have also lifted paint in the shape of the extra leaf (which I will also add).

This close up shows you the area of mauve paint that I removed to widen the stem (also the leaf shape to the right).
