Watercolor Painting, My Way: Clouds: L1

Author: Rod Webb, Associate Editor

Lessons in this series:
Introduction/Simple Clouds | Wet-into-Wet | Stormy Clouds | Light in the Sky

The simplest way to produce clouds is by lifting paint using paper towels.

Brands with duck images are not neccesary - other types are also suitable for watercolors. :-)

Crumple the paper towel thoroughly or you will produce clouds with square edges!
Color washes required:

Raw Sienna

Colbalt Blue with a touch of Light Red so it's not too pretty.

Payne's Grey with a touch of Alizarin Crimson.

Check colors on a scrap of paper.

Apply a cobalt wash to sky area.

Have your tissue ready, as the next stage must be done before paint dries.
