The Mystic Moon

Author: Joe Broome, Contributing Editor

In this picture we have exaggerated nature for a dramatic effect. The rocks in the foreground are starkly contrasting with the moon in the background. It's called a mixed media picture because we are using paint (watercolors, in this case) and ink.

Here are the materials you will need. You will need a compass to make a circle, a pencil, the primary colors of red, blue and yellow, a #7 brush, black permanent ink, a cup of water, an 8 ½ X 11 inch piece of poster paper, and a plastic picnic plate.

Use your compass to draw a circle that comes close to the top, left and right edges of the paper. Close to the bottom of the circle draw to frown curves with the one on the left being taller. Then draw two rectangles, one tall one and one short one.
