Step 4/15: The back part of the head has been removed and set aside on a sandbag that's covered with a plastic bag. The bag of wet clay has been moved to support the front of the head. A bag of wet clay works well for this as you can shape it as needed. I've carved a starting place approximately 1" from the edge with a small loop tool. The thickness of the walls when finished should be between 1/2" to 1" and as consistant as possible. |

Step 5/15: The sculpture is hollowed out using various loop tools until the armature is fully exposed and the sculpture can be removed to the sandbags for further hollowing. |

Step 6/15: Here is the front of the head, face down on sandbags. The hollowing is complete on this part. The clay that is removed should be put in a plastic bag and sprayed with water so it can be wedged and used on your next sculpture. |
